Everything is black and white!

There is another inspirational challenge over at Lunagirl Moonbeams this time it's Black & White and is a joint challenge with The Cheerful Stamp Pad.

I decided to make a tag, I'm a bit addicted to making tags at the moments, I think I will hang them in my new craftroom once we've moved as inspiration or may be use them as toppers for cards.

  • As the base I have used the inside of the cover of the Craftwork Cards Kraft Tags pad.
  • The background is stamped with Visible Image 'Roses' stamp, Dovecraft black ink and clear Heat It Up embossing powder.
  • I have used the Visible Image 'Corset' stamp and the wings from the Visible Image 'Time After Time' set, also embossed.
  • The bow is from my stash.
  • The leaves and flowers are created with Noor! Design dies.
  • Craftwork cards newsprint candi to the corner of the tag and the centre of the flower.
  • Tassel ribbon from my stash.
  • Black and White Gesso paint.

Hello Followers, I hope you are all well.

Passion Funds Audio Equipment

So last Friday I was in the local paper - eeek!  It was a photo, as well as my letter, of me handing over some personal CD players to The Macmillan Unit at the local hospital.

The Article
I had personal experience of the unit after a diagnosis of breast cancer in 2013.  I immersed myself in my passion for craft to keep positive and take my mind off the horrible side effects of the treatment. During my appointments for treatment and a stay in hospital I listened to audio books to pass the time.
My mum and I sold our cards, etc at the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre.
Once my treatment was finished I decided to sell my cards, jewellery, etc to raise funds, half the money raised went to Breast Cancer Care and I used the other half to buy personal CD players for the rooms on the ward (so far I have bought 4 I have a further 7 to buy) and donated my audio books.

Me handing over one of the CD players.
I now spend a lot of time in my craft room making more cards to raise further funds whilst listening to more audio books.

I am really chuffed to have this published as my other passion is writing.

Faery Ink New Release - Heart on a String

If you're looking for something a little more unusual on the digi front then why not pop over to the Faery Ink shop and grab this new release "Heart on a String".

I used the following Graph It markers to colour the image; Heart; 9100, 9101, 9102, 9103, Patches; 5260, 5270, 5280, Spectrum Noir pencil; 026, 027, 032  Nail; 9505, Spectrum Noir Pencil; 118, Ribbon; 9403

I have adhered it to some paper from my stash using 3D foam tape on to some paper from my stash.  I have added some faux stitching around the edges and the sentiment is a Visible Image stamp and mounted it on black card.

I asked Amanda her inspiration behind this digi and here is what she told me "I drew this for an ATC swap themed "new beginnings".  No matter how many times our heart is broken, we just patch it up and try and try again."  I thought this was rather lovely, and since I believe that no matter how patched up your heart is someone will love you just the way you are, I thought this sentiment went perfectly.

Quotes from mother!

I was inspired to make this by the Lunagirl Moonbeams Challenge.  I wasn't sure if I was going to make it in time for the challenge as I've been busy packing up boxes for a house move! When I came across these atc papers in my stash I thought they would be perfect for the challenge.  The two quotes are something that my mum used to say (in fact I think she still sometimes does) my sister, not me obviously as I am, and always was, an absolutely angel and wouldn't dream of picking on my sister!

  • Black pattern card from stash, originally used as packaging
  • Docrafts Papermania Happy Days 6 x 6" design stack, distress with Hougie distress tool
  • Creata metallic card and Typewriter stamps
  • Anna Marie Designs black card stock
  • Quotes by Mom ATC Collection art papers
  • Ribbon and bling from stash
  • Noor! Design Back In Time dies
  • Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink
The quotes say "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." and "Leave your sister alone!"

I am a big fan of the Docrafts range and in particular love their card kits as you get so much product for your money.

The kit contains 1 x printed A5 card, 3 x die-cut sheets, 1 x A4 printed paper, 1 x expandable envelope and orange thread.  I used some green thread from my stash around the image to add some contrast.

I have added little extra die-cuts and stickers to the front, inside and back...
...and the envelope and still have lots of pieces left.

Faery Ink DT Inspirational - Beauty & The Beast

If you are looking for the Faery Ink blog hop post click here.

Today I'm bringing you my Faery Ink inspirational piece.  I have used Beauty and the Beast for my inspiration image.  I have to say this is one of my favourite fairytales and of course the film is amazing!  The thing I remember most about the film is the huge library (think I could have fallen for the Beast with a library like that) and the music.  Both those things inspired me to use old sheet music and pages from a book as my decorative papers.

  • Base card from Anna Marie Designs kraft card.
  • Creata mirri board, rounded corners with corner punch.
  • Sheet music cut from an old book of music, distress with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
  • Books stamped with Gorjuss stamp and cut from an old book picked up at a charity shop, distress with TH Vintage Photo DI.
  • Sentiment "Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect it means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."is from Bee Crafty, stamped with Memento Cocoa Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.
  • Ribbon and button from my stash.

Image coloured using the following Graph It Markers; Rose; 5215, 5220, 545, 5250, Leaves; 8270, 8280, Lips; 4135, Skin; 4120, 4125, 4150, 4155, 4145, Dress; & Hair band; 1130, 1140, 1150, 1170, Hair; 3120, 3125, 3140, Beast's hair; 1210, 1230, 1250, Fur; 3250.

You can buy the digi here.

Faery Ink turns 12 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Faery Ink 12th Birthday Blog Hop!  It's time for a party of creativity and inspiration and prizes!

Here is my make using Victorious and the Dragon.  This is one of my favourite digi images firstly because I love dragons and also I love the movement in this image from the tail of the dragon and the Faery's hair.  Of course dragon's are very on trend at the moment with them being featured heavily in both TV and films, so maybe this image would make a great invitation to a fantasy fancy dress party.

I've made my card to give hope to someone that's maybe going through a tough time and would appreciate some positive words and a cheery card.

I have coloured Victorious and the Dragon using the following Graph It markers; Skin; 4120, 4125, 4155, 4145, Dragon; 6110, 6120, 6130, 6140, Dress; 9100, 9101, Hair; 1280, 1270, 1250, 1210, Wings, 6110, Silver Shaker, Wand; 6175, Silver Shaker.

  • Image mounted on purple Creata mirri board, Studiolight paper, Anna Marie Designs black card.
  • Joy! ribbon and bow.
  • Creata flock transfers.
  • Phill Martin Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Lavender Pearlescent PVA
For your chance to win Victorious and the Dragon digi just leave a comment below - Good Luck!

Snow & Ice

Today I'm sharing another Yule card using a really pretty topper.  I've never been ice skating but I love dancing and snow/ice, so ice skating to me seems so beautiful and very clever.  Ice skating to me is definitely an iconic image of Winter and Christmas.

  • Anna Marie Designs white card stock and gold paper
  • Ribbon from my stash (hand-tied bow).
  • Marianne Designs Creatables 'Let It Snow' stamp & banner die
  • Snowflake button & thread from my stash
  • Creata Silver mirri board
  • Noor! designs skates die
  • My Paper Stash topper & backing card (die cut made using Xcut Four Petal nesting die)

"Clean and Simple with Visible Image...

...can't be done." said a crafty friend.  Well that sounded like a challenge, and my thoughts were 'Of course it can, their stamps are so great they don't need anything else."

So I took up the gauntlet to make a CAS card armed only with my assortment of VI stamps, black ink and white card.

The stamps I chose to use were the Wedding Day set.  If you read my earlier post you will know I have Weddings on the brain due to my sister's engagement, so I've been experimenting with different layouts and this was another idea.  Everything is stamped in Palette Stamp & Stick Gluepad and embossed with Heat It Up! Black Sparkle embossing powder.  I have used a white base card made from Anna Marie Designs card, using the same type card (I've found out from experience it's important to use the same card as white shades do tend to vary from brand to brand) I stamped the sentiment and trimmer it down.  I stamped and embossing the rose heads and stems and fussy cut them and adhered them with 3D foam pads.  So voila, a CAS card using only Visible Image Stamps...

Show & Tell with Visible Image

Every month in the Facebook Visible Image group there is a show and tell competition where you can show any make from that month using VI stamps and tell the story behind it. This was mine for April.  I have been experimenting with different designs and layouts for Wedding cards because, as some of you know, back in January my sister became engaged.  It's all we ever talk about and the two of us and my mum are building the biggest Pinterest board ever - it's all so exciting!

    • Visible Image Wedding Day set and Roses stamped using Pallette Stamp & Stick Gluepad.
    • My own mix of embossing powder using Heat It Up! Lilac and Pink powder.  I picked these colours becuase pink is her favourite colour and purple is mine.
    • Sentiment cut using Xcut Four Petal Nest die.
Obviously she won't be getting this one because it's no longer a secret but at the moment I'm just playing while I wait for the happy couple to decide on colours and theme, etc!

    Steampunk with Visible Image

After a recent tidy up and declutter of my craft room I noticed I have a little stash of Washi tape that I haven't really broke into, lots of lovely colours not started!  I picked out three rolls, all in purple my favourite colour, and created a simple background on white card.

    • I stamped on to this with Visible Image Ripped Fishnet stamp.
    • The steampunk pieces are made up of VI Corset, wings from the Time after Time set, the manequin from the Sewing Room set and the hat from Clara, stamped in black Dovecraft pigment ink, embossed with clear Heat It Up! embossing powder, white areas are coloured with Graph It markers 7180 and 7190 and mounted them on 3D foam pads.
    • The sentiment is also a VI stamp, "Imperfection is Beauty".
    • The complete topper is mounted on Creata mirri card.

The gems and ribbon are from my stash.  I have inked the edges of all the card stock and the image with Tim Holtz Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.

DT Project - The Sisters of Craft Blog Challenge - May 2015

Can you believe it's 1st May already!  You know what that means it's time for a new challenge at The Sisters of Craft Blog.  We are always overwhelmed by the response and the entries, I continue to be inspired by so many of your projects, thank you for joining us each month.

This month we are sponsored by Art by Miran and the winner will receive 3 digi images!  We had some beautiful images to work with, my image is called Flapper 1920's girl.
This is the first time I have coloured a complete image (apart from the skin) using Spectrum Noir Pencils.  I used the following colours; Dress; 024, 027, 025, 023, Shoes; 118, 024, Hair Band; 115, 118, Fur; 002, Jewel; 017, Eyes; 100, 102, Hair; 098, 100, 102  GI markers; Skin; 4120, 4125, 4150, 4155, 4170, 4135.  I'm quite pleased with how it turned out but I think I need some blending solution.  I realise that me listing the colours I used may be pretty boring for my readers but it's more of a record for me so I know what I used just in case I want to recreate it! :-)
The papers are from my stash.  The clock, resin flower and wooden birdcage (coloured gold with Graph It gold shaker marker) are from The Works, lots of packets of goodies in there for a £1.00 each!  The beads and ribbon used to make a hand-tied bow are from my stash.  I affixed Vogue card candi in the corners.  I used coordinating papers cut with the Xcut four petal nesting die and brad to make a flower.
I hope you like my project, and I look forward to seeing your entries for May, remember it's always anything goes.  Your entry will always be commented on by one of my sisters or myself but I personally always take a peek at every single entry as I love to see your work.  Don't forget to leave some love on my sisters' blogs all the links are here.
