Joy is a flower...

You might have spotted that I don't normally add sentiments to my cards, this is becuase I usually sell them so it's easy to add a particular sentiment if the buyer wants one or it means it can be used more than one occasion.  I realised whilst sort my stamps in their new homes in my craft room that I have quite a few sentiments, a lot of which have not been used - slapped wrists for me!  So I challenged myself to design a card around a sentiment, and I'm entering it into the Noor! Design blog challenge - Something Old, Something New.  I like unique sentiment stamps and I think this "Joy is a flower that blooms when you do" (new) from Bee Crafty  is perfect for lots of types of celebrations or just to cheer someone up.

The sentiment is stamped and embossed, distressed with Tim Holtz Milled Lavender Distress Ink and painted with Milled Lavender Distress Crackle Paint and edged with TH Seedless Preserve DI.

I have used the outside of the Noor! Design die (old) to frame the sentiment, this is also coloured with TH Milled Lavender and Seedless Preserve DI.  It is matted and layered on to patterned paper from my stash (old), again edged with TH Seedless Preserve DI.

The base is another piece of paper from my stash (old) measuring 8x8 inches.  For the base card I trimmed down a sheet of A3 card.

I have embellished the card with ribbon (old), pins (new), brads (old) & a button (old)...
a resin flower (new), material flowers (old)...
Noor! Design die cut flowers (some new some old) & leaves (new)...
3D sticker flowers (old), Phill Martins Cosmic Shimmer Vintage Lavender Pearlescent PVA (old) and Noor! Design vintage border die (old).

All the papers are from my stash (old) and mostly off cuts from larger sheets.

My First Lelli-Bot Yule Card

I really wanted to take part in the Lelli-Bot challenge again this month but with all the moving and unpacking and trying to find certain crafty bits and pieces I didn't think I was going to make the deadline, however I've managed to make this simple yule card using the Merry Mono Christmas kit. My favourite part of this kit is the black snowflake embossed card.

This month the theme is Add Some Sparkle.

Everything is from the kit apart from the glitter added to the bow and edge of the topper.  The Snowflakes are punched from a sheet of the patterned paper and the decorative edge around the white mat was created using a Woodware trimmer with the decorative Victorian blade.

Feminine Black & White Stepper

Today I'm sharing a feminine b&w stepper card.

I made the topper using Noor! Floral Lady Clear Stamp, which I have stamped with Jet Black pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I backed the image on black card stock.

The die cut & embossed Noor! Fashion Hat is mounted on the image using gel glue.  To embellish the hat I have used Noor! Feathers, Floral Flourishes & Roll-up Roses dies.  I have added detail to the feathers, centers of the flowers, trim of the hat and given the top of the hat a shine using black and white enamel accents.

The backing paper was created using some images from The Old Design Shop and my Craft Artist Programme, and mat and layered on black card stock before adhering to the main card.

I have embellished the large panel and first step with spider's web, flower brads and material flowers (coloured black with an alcohol marker)...

...the middle step with tags punched from the backing sheet and further embellished with black trim, pins and a button...

...the back step is embellished with artificial flowers and a black bow.

You can see yesterday's masculine card using more Noor! dies here.

You can see more of my makes using Noor! Design dies & stamps by clicking on this link to my Noor! Design Pinterest board and my Noor! Design Flickr album. I also post my makes regularly on Instagram @tracylouisew and Facebook.

My Noor! Design UK DT Call Entry

I have waited a very long time for this moment...I think I might have mentioned in a previous post or two that I love Noor! Design dies, stamps & paper pads, and with the addition of Dutch Doobadoo and other products my wish list just keeps getting longer! So when I saw Tracy Payne from Noor! Design UK was having a DT Call I couldn't wait to get started on a project.  However my die cutting machine had other ideas and broke beyond repair so I was left waiting for a new machine.  Fortunately my mum stepped in to the breach with her machine just in time and saved the day!

The reason I love Noor! Design products is because they are completely unique and have a certain quirkiness about them too which appeals to my eclectic style of crafting.  As per the rules here is my card, I've gone for a vintage style masculine card.

The backing paper is from The Old Design Shop, I have aged it using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo, Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Brushed Corduroy and Black Soot Distress Inks and distressed the edges with my Hougie distressing tool.

Using the Noor! Design Gears dies I created my own stamps from Funky Foam and some white Gesso paint to create a background on the black base card.

I used the die cut gears and some Black Soot distress ink to stencil shapes on to the paper too.

I have embellished the card using the Noor! Design Gears dies cut from the backing paper, Funky Foam and Debbi Moore's Metal Magic.  I also used the off cuts as extra embellishments and focal points.

Other embellishments include a brad, studs, string & chipboard "Heritage" sentiment.  The "oil stains" are created with black Gesso paint.

The sentiments are from a Fabulous 50's set of stamps that came free with Creative Stamping magazine "Still An Old Classic" and Docrafts Papermania Portobello Road Urban Stamps "Air Mail With Love".

You can see more of my makes using Noor! Design dies & stamps by clicking on this link to my Noor! Design Pinterest board and my Noor! Design Flickr album. I also post my makes regularly on Instagram @tracylouisew and Facebook.

I am also on the DT for Farey Ink and Sisters of Craft Blog Challenge and on the Admin for Carley Duff's Crafty Army Facebook group where I like to combine my makes with Noor! Design products.

I made two cards at this time so look out for my feminine card on my next blog post.

A little bit of gossip about me!
I think crafting first took hold of me when I was 14, initially through cross stitch, but I started papercrafting about 15 years ago.   My stash soon grew to astronomical proportions and I started crafting whenever I had a spare few minutes including in my lunch hours, I was chuffed when work colleagues started requesting bespoke cards.

These days I'm self-employed and building a portfolio career which includes blogging, writing and creating including cards for charity and bespoke customer orders whilst building my Creative Designer profile.  It is a fantastic experience to be able to share my creations and passion with so many others and make new friendships and is my long term ambition to run local classes and workshops to take crafting to my community.

I enjoy all sorts of papercraft including stamping, colouring, mixed media, upcycling, home decor and lots more.  I would say I'm a confirmed craft addict!

Butterfly Birthday

Good Morning to you all!  How was your weekend, good I hope.  This is a birthday card I made for a friend a few weeks ago.  I had very little time to make this as it coincided with moving house, so I kept it clean and simple but, I hope, pretty.

I'm delighted to share with you today this new release from Faery Ink.  This is Amber Witchy, I think she is a new favourite of mine.  She looks like a medieval style witch to me.  I wonder what she is carrying in her little pouch, perhaps magic dust or coins for a journey, and she will be protected from whoever she meets along the way by her magical staff.

Ribbon, Decorative Pin, Flower and gems from my stash.
Grey packing paper printing from Serif Digitangle Digikit.

I have used the following Graph It markers to colour the image;

Fathers' Day with Thomas Kinkade

Yay!  I am back in the land of blogging and will be making my way around your blogs over the next few days to catch up with all your fabby makes!

Due to packing and unpacking of boxes I didn't have time to schedule this post so I'm sharing it today.  It's the Father's Day card I made for my dad who along with my mum spent Fathers' Day moving some of our belongs to the new house!

The decoupage sheet is Joanna Sheen Thomas Kinkade, Natures Scenes - Emerald Valley from Foil Play.
My dad has a lot of Thomas Kinkade pictures especially the Christmas ones which come out every year and look stunning so I felt sure he would appreciate this little masterpiece.

I have used Anna Marie Designs Kraft Card for the base card and layered the image on Anna Marie Designs green card.

The wooden spade which I have distressed with Tim Holtz Forest Moss Distress Ink and wrapped the handle with twine (from my stash) is from a pack of shapes from The Works, as are the hessian and wood piece.  I stamped DAD on the wooden oval using See D's stamps.  The leaves, peg and natural raffia are from my stash.
