Faery Ink New Release - Fae Queen Arachne

This fabulous digi is the new release from Faery Ink, her name is Fae Queen Arachne, and I think she is marvelous!  She comes with and without wings.

In mythology Arachne is a mortal woman and talented weaver who challenged the goddess of crafts and wisdom, Athena.  There are different versions of the story but they end with Arachne being turned in a spider, which is why, according to mythology, spiders are called arachnids.
I have coloured Fae Queen Arachne with Graph It markers; Hair; 9201, 9203, 9205, Skin; 41204125, 4145, 4150, 4155, Wings, Crown, Make-up, Top, Necklace; 6110, 6120, 6130, 6140, 6175, 6180, Eyes; 7119.
The black base card is covered in spider's web and embellished with a purple ribbon and black lace.  Fae Queen Arachne is mounted on the card using Pinflair glue.

he sentiment "When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion." is a Ethiopian Proverb which I typed onto one of my own photos after some slight tinkering with it in the Craft Artist Programme.  I have mounted it on white card which I have coloured with Graph It marker 6140.  I decided on a positive sentiment as spiders get a really bad press, I'm not a fan but as long as they leave me alone I will leave them alone, unless they are really big...yuck!

Faery Ink Fae of the Month - Destiny Pumpkin

As many of you know Autumn is my favourite time of year.  I especially love the warm tones of the landscape, there is certainly something about Autumn that makes me feel alive and awake, if I could hibernate for summer and come out for Autumn I would happily do so!

One family tradition during Autumn is pumpkin picking so I adore this new image from Faery Ink, it's the Fae of the Month and is called Destiny Pumpkin and I have a few plans for her in the future so watch this space.

I have coloured Destiny Pumpkin with the following Graph It markers; Skin; 4120, 4125, 4150, 4155, 4135, Eyes; 8270, Lips; 2160, 2170, Hair; 3120, 3130, 3140, 3170, Leaves; 8270, 8280, 8290, Dress; 2110, 2160, 2170, 3130, Wings, 2110, 2120, 2130, Gold Shaker.

Destiny Pumpkin is adhered with Pinflair glue on to Anna Marie Designs Sunshine card, mat and layred on to green Creata metallic card and then on to Anna Marie Designs Kraft card.  The sentiment is from The Wild & Free Collection of stamps which were a freebie with Get Stamping magazine.

The flourishes are made using the vintage border die from Noor! Designs cut from Creata mirri card.

The leaves are from the "Leaves 2 piece" set by Noor! Designs and the "Mushroom and Leaf" die set also by Noor! Designs again cut from Creata mirri card.

The brown string is Joy!craft and the hessian strings, brad, ribbon, button & gems are from my stash.

Destiny Pumpkin is the One Day Fae Giveaway all you need to do is comment on the Faery Ink blog within 24 hours and Pumpkin Destiny will be yours for free.  You can also join in the Faery Ink fun in the Facebook group.

Happy Birthday to a Land Rover Fan

My sister's fiancĂ© is a Land Rover enthusiast (you might have noticed this from some previous posts) so when his birthday comes around I usually go with this theme.  This time I have decided to make a digital card as it saves on postage.
The Land Rover photo is one I took myself at a Car Show.
I used Serif Craft Artist to change the photo to sepia and cut it out.

I have added a background and elements from African Safari and Butterfly Paradise.

Craftwork Cards Christmas Wreath

One afternoon whilst I was waiting from some guests to arrive I wanted to do a spot of crafting, it doesn't really matter what I'm doing I always fancy a bit of crafting but I don't always have time to get my craft stash out so I opted for a kit.  Since it's August I don't think it's too early to start making Yule decorations, in my world it's never too early, what about you are you a Christmas lover like me or are you all bah humbug about it?

This Craftwork Cards kit comes with really clear instructions and the flowers are die cut and coloured over the edge so there are no white edges to them.  I have used white Gesso paint to cover the wreath base but you could decopatch it, spritz it, ribbon wrap it, etc. Silver card candi is ideal for the centres but you could add glitter or faux ice.

It only took me about half an hour and filled the time whilst waiting for my guests.

DT Project - Sisters of Craft Mid-Month Inspiration

It's mid-August and today I wanted to share and inspire you with some mid-month inspiration for the Sisters of Craft using an image from the very talented Nikky Hall over at Polkadoodles.  Polkadoodles are our sponsor this month for the Sisters of Craft Anything Goes Blog Challenge, for my mid-month inspiration I have used a Twiggy and Toots image from the download collection.

I have imported it into Serif and used a background and various elements from Daisytrail digi kits.

Whilst putting the picture together I came up with this short story for the scene;

"Twiggy and Toots are settled down into a pretty pair of wellington boots in the magical garden.  Oh dear, Edwina the naughty little fairy has spotted them and the water can, using her magic wand she has cast a spell to pour water all over the sweet little owls.  Fortunately Twiggy and Toots put up their umbrella just in time and are able to keep their feathers dry for another evening."

Frosty Christmas

Is it just me or can anyone else feel the weather starting to turn?  I'm sure I caught a whiff of Autumn in the air the other evening and that of course means Christmas is on it's way.  I have two Yule presents bought and wrapped already - this is super organised even for me - and this inspired me to make another Yule card.
For this make I have used the Lelli-Bot Crafts Frosted Christmas kit, I love snow and ice and am definitely dreaming of a white Christmas. :-)

The topper, snowflake charm, sentiment, snowflake embellishment, silver card, patterned paper, white & blue ribbon are all from the kit.  I have cut the silver card using the scalloped blade for the Woodware Trimmer.  The image reminds me of a carousel so I have used an off-cut as a pole.  The whole scene makes me think of Winter wonderland so it seemed appropriate to pick Walking in a Winter Wonderland (the Dean Martin version) for the aptly named Winter Wonderland challenge!

I distressed the edge of patterned paper with a blunt knife blade as I had temporarily mislaid my Hougie distressing tool.

Some spider's web, Anna Marie Designs stamens, buds and a pearl strand embellish the corner behind the image.

The pearl snowflake is from Marianne Designs.  I have embellished the sentiment with silver and white twine from my stash, Polar white Flower Soft from Katy Sue Designs and Crushed Ice Crystals from Anna Marie Designs.  The 'snowballs' are from my stash.

The snowflakes are cut from the silver card included in the kit using Noor! Design Winter Wishes dies.  I have used spider's web across the bottom of the card to create some texture and then split the circle snowflake die cut to create the wave effect.  The topper and sentiment are mounted with Pinflair glue.

Wedding ATC

Good Morning everyone!  Today I'm sharing an ATC for a competition in a Facebook group, the theme was Wedding.

I think the stamp is Lily of the Valley (she was originally a fairy but I cut her wings off, ouch! in the hope that she would look like a bridesmaid).  She is coloured with Graph It markers; hair; 3120, 3130, 3140, Skin; 4120, 4125, 4150, 4155, 4135, dress; 5110, 5115, 5120, roses; 5125, 5130, 5160, ribbon; 6130, 6140.

All ribbon from my stash.
Congratulations sentiment from Kanban coloured with distress ink.
Heart gems from my stash.
The image is mounted on 3D foam pads and I have used glossy accents on the flowers.

Faery Ink Facebook Contest - Digi Stamp of a Creature

The new Faery Ink Facebook Contest starts today and this month's theme is to use a digital stamp of a creature.  Your digital stamp can be of anything but it must include a creature.  The creature can be real or a mythological figure but it cannot be humanoid (i.e. fairies/mermaids do not count). Please see the full rules on the Facebook group.

I have used Alice and Her Cheshire Cat which I have coloured with Graph It markers; Skin; 4120, 4125, 4155, 4135, Lips; 4135, Eyes; 7110, Dress & bow; 7125, 7130, Apron; 5115, 5120, Bottle; 8150, 9303, 9201, Cookie; 3245, Nails; 5130, Cat; 5125, 5130, 5160, 5120, 99090, 5215, Hair; 1230, 1210, 1250.

The image is mounted on to Anna Marie Designs black card stock and then adhered to a 5" x 5" scalloped edge card.  I trimmed the image using the Woodware Trimmer with the Victorian blade and added Black enamel accents to the corners.

I have mounted two mini playing cards on black card stock.

I thought this would make a good card or party invite for a 12th birthday.  I do hope you will join in with the Faery Ink Facebook Contest.

Fergus takes a trip to Sheringham

Today we (me, hubby & Fergus) went to Sheringham to meet some of the East Anglian Working Newfoundlands who were taking part in a water work display.  It was beautiful day and we met lots of gorgeous newfs in the morning and in the afternoon we went for a lovely drive through the villages of Norfolk.  I couldn't resist making this digital scrapbook page using Craft Artist and the photos I took from the day (Fergus is in the life ring).  I used the transparency setting for the background, cutout studio, elements from Art Deco Cruise and Mariner's Journey, frames from African Safari and Art Deco Cruise and set the text to follow a shape.

DT Project - The Sisters of Craft Blog Challenge - August 2015

Goodness me it doesn't seem five minutes since I was posting for the July challenge over at the Sisters of Craft and now it's time for August's challenge!  Remember it's anything goes all of the time.  Our sponsor this month is Polkadoodles.
For my DT inspiration I have used 3 designs sheets from the Rose Budd CD-rom.  I really love this CD-rom as it is a Regency style.

I have made three tags using various ephemera elements from the design sheets.  The base tag is from Craftwork Cards.  I have used my distress tool and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink on the papers, tags & elements.

I have added some embellishments and ribbon from my own stash and added glossy accents to the bottles and crackle glaze to the clock.

We have a new announcement for this month and that is the introduction of our interactive Facebook page. We will be showcasing lots of inspirational projects and we want you to share your projects with us too. We will also be listing other Anything Goes Challenge blogs for you to take part in PLUS all our sponsors past, present and future offers and giveaways all at your fingertips in one place. We will have a random act of kindness Card/ATC swap, a selling crafty stash section and mini challenges Just For Fun.  We hope you will join us.
