Robin & Rosehips

Another Christmas card to share today, my last one, for 2016 and time to wish you all the best for 2017.  As much as I love Christmas you may be surprised to hear that I don't celebrate New Year. Following the Pagan calendar I celebrate New Year on the 1st November.  I know some of you are thinking why do I celebrate Christmas, well sometimes you have to be flexible and I wouldn't want to miss out on the fun with my family and friends, besides I do celebrate the Winter Solstice on the 21st December.

Today's card is the one I made for my parents. Both my mum and dad love Robins and just recently I found out my mum has a love of Rosehips, so when I spotted this image I knew it was perfect for their Christmas card.

Supplies used;
Hunkydory Little Book of Festive Birds
Bobunny Papers
Docrafts Papermania Festive Fauna Papers
Anna Marie Designs Black cardstock and pearlescent paper
Seasons Greetings Sentiment & Joy Tag & peg from my stash.
Kuretake Wink of Stella Clear Pen
Glossy Accents for Robin's eye

Creative Blessings.  See you in 2017.  x

A Wren at Christmas Time

Whoop, Whoop - it's Christmas Eve!

Today I'm sharing a card I made for my dad to give to my mum.

I used the Little Book of Festive Birds by Hunkydory as the focal point for this card, as my mum loves Wrens it was an easy choice. I used two pages from the pad in order to decoupage the main body of the Wren.

Supplies used:
Anna Marie Designs Double Sided Pearl card and black card.
Bobunny papers.
Joy! Crafts paper.
Hunkydory Little Book of Festive Birds.
Poinsettia stickers and sentiment banner from my stash.
Docrafts ribbon bow.
Tea Dye distress ink.
Wink of Stella Clear pen.

You can just about see the glitter on the snow.
The decoupaged image.

So just one final thing to say "Yuletide Blessings to you and yours!"

I will be back on Boxing Day with another creation.

Elizabeth Crafts Designs - Christmas Jumper card

Hello friends!  Today I'm sharing a card I sent to relations in America.  I have mentioned before that every Christmas I design a card show casing something typically British and something typically American.

Christmas Jumper Day has become a tradition here in the UK and America, I think it may be called Ugly Sweater Day in the US though.  I decided to use two birds that depict each of our countries.

Supplies used;
Elizabeth Crafts Designs Robin and Cardinal bird and Jumper dies
Scraps of paper from my stash
Woodware tag punch
Joy! Crafts Snowflake stamp
Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distress Ink
Black Stabilo point 88 fine 4,0 pen

The robin could be a number of birds depending on how you coloured it.  I have chosen to use patterned paper to add some interest.

Dali ART - Christmas Card

Hello!  I'm sharing a Christmas card today using Dali Art stamps.  I'm a big Dali Art fan, I love the unusual style stamps and Dali's creative demos on TV are fabulous!  I am slowly building my collection.

This is a very simple card and wasn't the one I planned at all but I will share my original idea in another post.

Supplies used;
 Dali ART Henna Baubles stamp set
Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers
Pre-embossed card, square gems, sentiment from my stash
Purple Stabilo point 88 fine 0.4 pen

Lelli-Bots - Painted Posies Thank You Card

Greetings!  I thought I had already shared this card but I must of been dreaming as I can't see it on my published blog post list.  I shall be better organised with published posts next year as I've invested in a planner, my notebook of list is starting to creak under it's own weight, anyway that's for another post.

This is a thank card I made for my grandmother who gave me some money for my birthday last month.

Supplies used;
Lelli-Bots Painted Posies Kit
Brad from my stash.

I cut some of the papers to make an insert too.

Pollyanna Pickering Artwork - Birthday Card

One of the many reasons I'm glad I make cards is when people have birthdays in December because of course the shops are just full of Christmas cards at this time of year. I have 3 December birthday cards to make, this is the one I made for my dad.  Making a card for a male can be challenging but one of my favourite go to crafty stash is Pollyanna Pickering kits and CDs from Creative Crafting World.

I decided on the papercrafting kit for this card.

These kits are also great for adding a pretty insert to the card too.

I also added a small topper to the back.

Sketch Layout - Quick Cards Made Easy Reader DT

You may remember back in June I was asked to be part of the Reader DT for the Quick Cards Made Easy Sketch Challenge, so when I was asked again for issue 160 I was delighted to say yes.

Here is the sketch I was asked to follow.

Here is my finished card following the layout.

I used Craftwork Cards The Magic of Christmas papers and Candi.  Originally I planned to use several papers from this kit but I liked this sheet so much I decided to break it up as shown in the sketch by using peel-off borders.  I cut the bird from another sheet and edged it with distress ink. I have added a touch of Wink of Stella clear pen (from Keep on Crafting, Bury St Edmunds) to the Candi.

Silhouette Stamping with Sheena

Hello! After some techinical issues with my internet connection and laptop I'm finally back online with (fingers crossd) no issues!  Lots of online work and emails to get through but my first job is let you know who won my craft candy! Thank you to everyone who entered and the winner, picked by, is...

Well done Jennifer!  Please email me at and let me know your address so I can post your prize out to you.

Today I'm sharing a quick and simple card made for a friend who has had a really tough couple of two years and I'm really hoping that 2017 will see the dawn break for her as this card suggests.

I made the backgrounds using a simple technique.  I scribbled Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers on to an acrylic block, spiritzed it with plenty of water and than pushed down on to the cardstock.
I make a couple more backgrounds with the left over ink so I didn't waste all the gorgeous colours.  I used one for the insert too.

Supplies used;

Spectrum Aqua Markers; Evergreen, Wildflower, Scarlet, Marigold and Sunflower.
Creative Crafting World White cardstock
Anna Marie Designs Black cardstock
Silhouette Stamps by Sheena Douglass
Sentiment from A Little Bit Sketchy Dawn Will Break by Sheena

Scrapping the Summer

We have had very thick frost today and it's been so cold that most of it hasn't melted.  This is my sort of weather, I love the Autumn and Winter.  In fact I could happily hibernate in summer, so the title of this blog post has two meanings, as I do tend to scrap Summer, you are most likely to find me in a dark room with the windows thrown open, the fans on and wearing just enough clothes to appear decent, but that's another story!

By scrapping summer of course I mean scrapbooking. I do have to leave the house in the Summer to walk my Newfoundland, Fergus but we like to go out in the very early morning or late evening and if it's raining you will probably find us outside doing a happy dance! This selfie was taken on one such occasions, I think it was late evening, there was a slight breeze and we had a few spots of rain so that was it we were out door like lightening!  I think you can probably see how happy we are that there was a brief spell of cool weather.

Supplies used;
Serif Craft Artist 2
Daisy Trail Dreaming in Chalk Digi Kit
Daisy Trail Mediterranean Market Digi Kit

The Strength of a Survivor

As I expect many of you are aware this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and some of you will know that it's a very important campaign to me after I faced my own battle in 2013. I learnt many things during that time, about myself and others, and in many ways my life is so much richer.  My attitude to life has changed, I'm a glass half full girl now! I now know all the people I can call on in a crisis and who will give me strength but most of all I now realise my own strength - I fought it and I won!   That's why I choose this sentiment (is an altered version of one I found on Pinterest) for my digital creation for the Digitally Sweet Challenge theme.

Bonus Papers - Quick Cards Made Easy Issue 158

Today I'm showcasing a make for Quick Cards Made Easy magazine using their bonus papers for this month's issue.  10 readers make cards and then 3 are picked to be featured in the magazine so I've no idea until I purchase the magazine if I was chosen to be published but it's quite exciting to find out and if it's not in the mag it does go on their FB page and blog.

I thought the vintage Christmas papers were gorgeous. As soon as I saw that some of the images were stamps I knew what I was going to design.

I cut the north pole poinsettia papers using the pinking blade on my trimmer wrapped around twine and string from stash, added a tag and stamp from the bonus papers and a sparkly tree brad from my stash, and voila a Christmas parcel style card.

I like to use the papers from the inside too.

Thinking of You - Noor! Design Crafteezee Collection - August - Elegance Collection

Greetings!  I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Today I'm sharing a card made using the Noor! Design Crafteezee Collection from August.  The theme of the collection was elegance and you can see my unboxing video here.  This collection has sold out but the September and October Collections are still available.

I was inspired to make this with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in mind, hence the pink flowers and the sentiment.  As some of you know I'm a Breast Cancer survivor so this cause is very close to my heart and the thing I remember most during my treatment is just to know someone is thinking of you.

Two 6x6 papers, edged with Scattered Straw distress ink and a butterfly (with added sparkle using Clear Wink of Stella pen) cut from another sheet - Crafteezee Elegance Collection
Half a doilie - Crafteezee Elegance Collection

Summer at Sea - Noor! Design Crafteezee Collection - July - Nautical Theme

Hello all!  Today I am sharing a tag made using the Crafteezee collection from Noor! Design UK. This goodie box was a Nautical theme and contained lots of lovely elements.

I have used a tag from That's Crafty.  These tags are lovely to work with as I find distress inks blend really easily even if you are a little heavy handed with your blending tool it's really easy to blend out any harsh lines, etc.

I have used Weathered Wood and Faded Jeans distress inks for the background.  The Maja Designs papers that came with this collection are from the Summertime pad which can also be bought from the shop and are simply stunning!

I have cut a scene from one of the sheets using a Noor! Design Cutting and Embossing Rectangle Frame die and edged it with Faded Jeans Distress ink.  I have used two further papers from the selection as ribbon trims.

I have also used Under the Sea Starfish and Seashore Seagull die coloured with Antique Linen distress ink and Seashore Ship's Wheel die coloured with Faded Jeans distress ink, and created drop shadows for these with second dies cuts and a contrasting colour. The wax cord is also from the collection.

In amongst the seaside treasures are a button, twine, shell, pearl and anchor all from the collection along with the fishnet, Lasercut Chipboard Under the Sea Plants, natural and green moss.  The die cuts are again from Noor! Design UK the small filigree pieces from the Oval 4 pcs die set and Vintage Border Swirl Leaf coloured with Crushed Olive distress ink.

This collection has sold out but you may be able to buy some of bits and pieces separately and there is still time to order the September and October Collections, and you can now set up a subscription too.  Keep an eye out for my Youtube video of the unboxing of the October Yuletide Crafteezee Collection.

I hope you like my design and I shall be back on 3 October with another creation.
