Robin & Rosehips

Another Christmas card to share today, my last one, for 2016 and time to wish you all the best for 2017.  As much as I love Christmas you may be surprised to hear that I don't celebrate New Year. Following the Pagan calendar I celebrate New Year on the 1st November.  I know some of you are thinking why do I celebrate Christmas, well sometimes you have to be flexible and I wouldn't want to miss out on the fun with my family and friends, besides I do celebrate the Winter Solstice on the 21st December.

Today's card is the one I made for my parents. Both my mum and dad love Robins and just recently I found out my mum has a love of Rosehips, so when I spotted this image I knew it was perfect for their Christmas card.

Supplies used;
Hunkydory Little Book of Festive Birds
Bobunny Papers
Docrafts Papermania Festive Fauna Papers
Anna Marie Designs Black cardstock and pearlescent paper
Seasons Greetings Sentiment & Joy Tag & peg from my stash.
Kuretake Wink of Stella Clear Pen
Glossy Accents for Robin's eye

Creative Blessings.  See you in 2017.  x

A Wren at Christmas Time

Whoop, Whoop - it's Christmas Eve!

Today I'm sharing a card I made for my dad to give to my mum.

I used the Little Book of Festive Birds by Hunkydory as the focal point for this card, as my mum loves Wrens it was an easy choice. I used two pages from the pad in order to decoupage the main body of the Wren.

Supplies used:
Anna Marie Designs Double Sided Pearl card and black card.
Bobunny papers.
Joy! Crafts paper.
Hunkydory Little Book of Festive Birds.
Poinsettia stickers and sentiment banner from my stash.
Docrafts ribbon bow.
Tea Dye distress ink.
Wink of Stella Clear pen.

You can just about see the glitter on the snow.
The decoupaged image.

So just one final thing to say "Yuletide Blessings to you and yours!"

I will be back on Boxing Day with another creation.

Elizabeth Crafts Designs - Christmas Jumper card

Hello friends!  Today I'm sharing a card I sent to relations in America.  I have mentioned before that every Christmas I design a card show casing something typically British and something typically American.

Christmas Jumper Day has become a tradition here in the UK and America, I think it may be called Ugly Sweater Day in the US though.  I decided to use two birds that depict each of our countries.

Supplies used;
Elizabeth Crafts Designs Robin and Cardinal bird and Jumper dies
Scraps of paper from my stash
Woodware tag punch
Joy! Crafts Snowflake stamp
Tim Holtz Weathered Wood Distress Ink
Black Stabilo point 88 fine 4,0 pen

The robin could be a number of birds depending on how you coloured it.  I have chosen to use patterned paper to add some interest.

Dali ART - Christmas Card

Hello!  I'm sharing a Christmas card today using Dali Art stamps.  I'm a big Dali Art fan, I love the unusual style stamps and Dali's creative demos on TV are fabulous!  I am slowly building my collection.

This is a very simple card and wasn't the one I planned at all but I will share my original idea in another post.

Supplies used;
 Dali ART Henna Baubles stamp set
Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers
Pre-embossed card, square gems, sentiment from my stash
Purple Stabilo point 88 fine 0.4 pen

Lelli-Bots - Painted Posies Thank You Card

Greetings!  I thought I had already shared this card but I must of been dreaming as I can't see it on my published blog post list.  I shall be better organised with published posts next year as I've invested in a planner, my notebook of list is starting to creak under it's own weight, anyway that's for another post.

This is a thank card I made for my grandmother who gave me some money for my birthday last month.

Supplies used;
Lelli-Bots Painted Posies Kit
Brad from my stash.

I cut some of the papers to make an insert too.

Pollyanna Pickering Artwork - Birthday Card

One of the many reasons I'm glad I make cards is when people have birthdays in December because of course the shops are just full of Christmas cards at this time of year. I have 3 December birthday cards to make, this is the one I made for my dad.  Making a card for a male can be challenging but one of my favourite go to crafty stash is Pollyanna Pickering kits and CDs from Creative Crafting World.

I decided on the papercrafting kit for this card.

These kits are also great for adding a pretty insert to the card too.

I also added a small topper to the back.

Sketch Layout - Quick Cards Made Easy Reader DT

You may remember back in June I was asked to be part of the Reader DT for the Quick Cards Made Easy Sketch Challenge, so when I was asked again for issue 160 I was delighted to say yes.

Here is the sketch I was asked to follow.

Here is my finished card following the layout.

I used Craftwork Cards The Magic of Christmas papers and Candi.  Originally I planned to use several papers from this kit but I liked this sheet so much I decided to break it up as shown in the sketch by using peel-off borders.  I cut the bird from another sheet and edged it with distress ink. I have added a touch of Wink of Stella clear pen (from Keep on Crafting, Bury St Edmunds) to the Candi.

*************

Today I'm sharing a quick and simple card made for a friend who has had a really tough couple of two years and I'm really hoping that 2017 will see the dawn break for her as this card suggests.

I made the backgrounds using a simple technique.  I scribbled Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers on to an acrylic block, spiritzed it with plenty of water and than pushed down on to the cardstock.
I make a couple more backgrounds with the left over ink so I didn't waste all the gorgeous colours.  I used one for the insert too.

Supplies used;

Spectrum Aqua Markers; Evergreen, Wildflower, Scarlet, Marigold and Sunflower.
Creative Crafting World White cardstock
Anna Marie Designs Black cardstock
Silhouette Stamps by Sheena Douglass
Sentiment from A Little Bit Sketchy Dawn Will Break by Sheena
